When embarking on a new venture in Cork City Libraries Children's and Young People's Services, Ann Burns immediately sprung to mind as the perfect facilitator. Funding from the National Disability Fund and the autistic charity SHINE enabled us to provide art workshops for autistic children and teenagers within the public library setting. Having worked with Ann in the past on projects such as Labyrinth of Light and Faces of the Community we knew her professionalism, enthusiasm and great communication skills would ensure that the funding would be well spent. We were not disappointed! Those involved in the workshops ranged in age from 5 years to 18 years and with her versatility, easy manner, friendly personality and wonderful artistic talent Ann encouraged unimaginable creativity. She opened up a whole new world for all those involved and for whom Cork City Libraries are now a home from home. We are all especially proud of the publication A Rainbow of Learning, which is a compilation of the artistic works of teenagers from Scoil Bernadette/COPE and was launched during Cork City Libraries Teen Day 2008. Working with Ann is always a pleasure. We look forward doing so in the future.
